A work in final progress! I had to start again as i felt the version 1 design was a little too big for people to bother working. See previous post for picture. So version 1 worked out to be 12 x 16" on 16ct Aida. This meant there is plenty of stitches to make sure the curves and shapes are lovely and smooth in their outline. But i felt it's too big for the subject and the amount of stitches to complete the design. Hence version 2 above. The design has been developed to fit in a picture frame of 8 x 10". Of course as you can see above the curves are not as smooth and the shades a little less graduated. I am thinking of seeing how the design looks on smaller gauge Aida, more stitches per inch. A smaller stitch per inch would limit the customer base i guess...oh!!! I'm itching to get started on the sample make for this...takes a lot for me not be working on something textile, frustrating! I have the threads and Aida tempting me here! Miss D signing...

A look at the Barge Rose Digital Pattern The photograph below shows the pages you will receive when you buy my digital file of Barge Roses Cross-stitch pattern. I thought i would go through the pages included in the files. Of course the colour and symbol charts are in there. Plus the Key to the symbols representing the DMC stranded cotton threads used in the design. There is also a list of Materials, Tools and equipment needed. There are 2 pages of hints and tips of starting off, working the cross-stitch and finishing threads off too. I have also included a page on Mounting the work suggestions. Here's my Sample i worked to test make the design, checking any typo's, mistakes or missing information. I really like it in this plain blue frame just shows that the design stands out and shines. I was also thinking it would be very nice as a greeting card front. If you think you might like to try working this design it is here F...

Just a work in progress post. I had designed an Applique based on the theme Home as part of a unit for my City & Guilds Hand Embroidery course. The crockery are some random pieces i have and love. I have had them such a long time and they have memories attached to them! The coffee pot is a piece i probably bought from a charity shop, it had damage already but i use it as a vase for flowers. The first memory of its life as a vase is when my daughters Grandparents came for a visit. They slept in my room and i wanted them to feel as special as the visit felt for my daughter who was around 9 or 10yrs old. I was going to make fabric patterns for it to perhaps sell, but i recently learnt how to construct Cross stitch Charts! I wondered how it would transfer to charted stitch...I am liking the results. However, I have deleted alot of stitches that made up the background. (See above!) Here's the original Applique. The background on the applique is made of two fabrics, a mu...

New endeavours by Miss D Barge Roses and Barrel 'with Love' PDF file. Well this design is from a while ago...i had even advertised it in one of the Cross-stitch magazines! Back then you had to get a professional photographer to capture your image on a 'plate' to send to the magazine...cost me £40 i seem to remember and i never got it back!!! The inspiration for it was a love of the paintings on the canal barge boats of the Roses and Castles. I had enjoyed a workshop learning how to paint them...in the Boat Museum on Merseyside...might go out for a visit there again soon! Anyway i did fix a few things on the origonal sample design for this PDF file, i still love looking at the finished design. If you are interested in buying the design you can find it here https://www.etsy.com/shop/FibreDreamsbyMissD?ref=dashboard-header So signing off for now...thanks for reading x
